calmness: the six-week course

Available from  April 2026

The six-week course is the gradual cultivation of a stable and relaxed calmness.
This is done by learning to relax in stages so that we can finally allow the mind to relax.
The course includes all the principles of breathing and relaxation, going much more deeply into them.
Then from relaxation we move naturally into calmness meditation.
In calmness meditation we learn how to work with the mind's habits and allow everything
to settle, and in so doing we cultivate a quiet, stable and relaxed sense of calm.
We learn how to let go of all our struggle and just be,
The course is a training, a cultivation and a learning process. It requires a gentle and consistent effort.

Course Structure

6 weeks
42 days of guided audio + supplementary videos

If you go for a run every day you will get fitter.

course faq

Is it necessary to do the relaxation workshop before doing the course?

No, not at all. All the elements of the relaxation are included in the course. They are in fact the basis for the calmness meditation element. But, doing the workshop would give you a good introduction the working with the mind and breath, so you could test it out first, have a taste so to speak. As the workshop includes audio for home practice it also allows you to see how you are with a bit of focus and discipline. This may be good before committing to the course, as the course really asks us to do it every day for six weeks.

When time of day should I do the classes?

The morning is suggested as the best time to do this, for two reasons. One, it may simply be easier to add it to your morning routine, which are generally more predictable than evening times. Two, the morning time is when our minds are naturally somewhat calmer and more relaxed as they have not been stirred up yet by all the day's activities. But, most important, find a regular time that works for you.

By practicing in the morning we also get a chance to see the effect of the practice on our lives as we go through the day. For, as we go on, there should be some change in flavour, something noticeable, a shift in a habit or tendency within us.

How does this course differ from others?

The unique element on offer here is our detailed approach to really relaxing - combining

insight and understanding from both meditative and breathing traditions. We work on the body and nerves from one side, and on the mind from the other. We work on everything simultaneously.
